August 10, 1998 Storm Chase

Severe t-storms went through southern Ontario again, the second consecutive day at the beginning of the week. I went out on my 5th chase of the year from 6:45 to 7:45 PM with uncle Dave and Rita. We didn't see much, but there were really nice towers moving in. We encountered a heavy, but brief, rainfall, and seen some in-cloud lightning. My uncle, who drove the van, wanted to drive around to see if there was any frequent lightning so he could take pictures of some CG's, but there was nothing happening. What happened? Oh well, I guess sometimes you can't just tell the severity of a storm just by looking at it. When we were on a small country road, we had drove into a swarm of small bugs. The entire windshield was covered, and the guts smeared when the wipers swept across the window. Yuck! I'm sure the storms will look great through that! This chase was my second crappy chase of the year, hence it was practically a bust.

Total hours: 1 hour

Distance: approx. 40 km
